2G Scam

Hi and welcome back!
It's been quite a while since I posted a cartoon. I was battling with bringing up my website so much that I didn't notice time slip by.
2G Scam is still hot in India and I found it a good ground for my next cartoon. Here it is for you.

Tug o' War at CSC

Hi again! First, my apologies for the delayed post. I was waiting for the official announcement of the winners of the cartooning competition that was due on Monday, and maybe you too were expecting it. Unfortunately, for some reasons, the announcement is getting delayed. However, I have the unofficial 'Wiki leaks' results. I heard that I had won the competition but I think it would be wise to wait for the official word before opening the champagne bottle.
Meanwhile, we had 'Tug o War' competition this week and I had submitted a cartoon for this event. Here it is for you.
I am also planning to open up my own website shortly. I have registered the domain name and am in the process of designing the web page. The motivation and the push comes from people like you, who visit my pages and encourage me to go further. Thank you! Hope to introduce you to my new website very soon.

Cartooning competition

Hi there and thank you for visiting this page. :)
Last Thursday, cartooning competition was held at my workplace (CSC) as a part of the ongoing 'Samskruthi' cultural fest. There were six participants. At first I was reluctant to participate...not sure whether I was being shy or just plain lazy. Probably it was the second part. However, my colleagues persuaded me to participate and I did.
Three topics were given, out of which we had to choose one. The first was "Margazhi month & music". In Tamil Nadu (maybe also south India), Margazhi month is synonymous with music (classical). The entire month is fully loaded with various concerts. All the halls, auditoriums are booked. Every poster, leaflet and magazines speak of  various artists and their talents in various concerts.
I do love music but classical music goes far above my brain's frequency. Though this cartooning topic was not about music but about the activities in the month, I did have a lump in my throat as I heard the judge announce this first topic.
The second topic was "Happiness at work place". Hmmm...this sounded better. We do fool around at our work place, apart from pretending to work ;)...but to pictorially represent the fun sounded like letting the cat out of the bag. I hesitated.
The third topic was "Onion Tears". Ah! that sounded like music to my ears. Onions did bring tears to me both physically and financially, but for once they did bring a sign of relief. Having decided that there could be no better topic I started to sketch. I initially had a different idea but modified it to go with the word "Tears" .
The results of the competition will be officially out on Monday. While I wait for the results, here is the cartoon for you. I took a quick photograph of the cartoon before submitting it and hence the quality of the image is bit poor. Apologies for that.
As usual, your comments are stepping stones in my pursuit in cartooning. Please do drop in your views if possible. Thanks a lot!! :)

Onion prices still sky high

It's been quite a while since onion prices hit high prices. Still there seems to be no respite as the prices still hover well above the common man's reach. At the food court in my workplace, I was surprised to see biriyani without a single slice of onion. The main side dish for biriyani, raitha (diced onion soaked in curd with some salt) was all curd and cucumber, but no sign of onion. It looks like it will more time than expected to see the beloved onion back in the dishes.

Though some might ridicule me but I've always been amused by how some people have the talent to chop onions very finely. I found a video to just find out how it is done. Check this out if you want to know about the 'Fine cut' of onions for your cuisine.

And here is my cartoon that I drew recently. Hope you like it...and if you do, or even if you don't, please do leave your comments. Thanks a ton!!

Cartoons for the cultural events

Annual cultural events, popularly known as 'Samskruthi' (meaning 'Culture') are currently underway at my workplace (CSC). Many events will be conducted in the next few weeks. The first two events were face painting and Mehndi (Henna) competitions. I drew these cartoons for the broadcast mailer that was sent to Chennai CSC employees.

Life by cartoons

Real life ain't funny, but cartoon life is.
Cartooning is one of the vents to let out life's miseries in a more subtle and humorous manner. I've personally been irritated by traffic snarls, flat tires, pesky people and much more. Reacting to these hitches did more harm than good.
Representing these annoyances as cartoons with a slightly different flavor of humor not only eliminates the hurt within us but also paves way for new friendship.
